Willamette Valley

Stretching from the Columbia River in the north, to Eugene in the South, the Willamette Valley is Oregon's most famous wine growing region. Most of Oregon's wine grapes are grown in the Willamette Valley.

The cool climate of the region is suited to a narrower range of wine grape varieties than many of the other American wine growing regions. The Willamette Valley is especially well suited for the early ripening Pinot Noir grape. This region is known for producing many of the greatest Pinot Noirs outside of the Burgundy region of France. Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc are also produced in the region.
