Oregon Wine Country

Oregon's northern latitude, with it's long hours of summer sunshine allow the grapes to fully ripen most of the time. The nearby Pacific Ocean provides a moderating effect to the climate, causing a gradual ripening, encouraging complex flavors, allowing Oregon wineries to compete with other world class wineries.

Most of Oregon's wine regions are located in the western part of the state, between the Cascade Mountains, and the Coastal Range. The main wine producing regions in Oregon are the Willamette Valley, the Umpqua Valley, and the Rogue River Valley. Grape varieties grown in Oregon include Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Semillon, and Cabernet Franc.
