Trentino-Alto Adige

Trentino-Alto Adige, is the northernmost region of Italy, on the border of Austria and Switzerland. The region is split into two provinces. Trentino is the southern province, historically Italian in language and culture, and Alto Adige is the northern province, with a prominent German speaking population. Because of it's northern location, the climate is perfect for cool-weather grape varieties.

These two provinces have combined forces to serve as a model of winemaking efficiency. The Trentino-Alto Adige region is known primarily for Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay, although Sauvignon, Pinot Bianco, Riesling, Muller Thurgau, and Gewurztraminer.

Medium red. Smoky aromas of redcurrant, tar and meat, with a liqueur-like quality. Smooth, sweet and expressive if a bit chunky and lacking in definition. Flavors lifted by a floral nuance. Finishes with slightly dry tannins and good but not outstanding length.
