Piedmont

The Piedmont is located in the northwestern corner of Italy, bordering France and Switzerland.

The Piedmont region is renowned for wines from native grape varieties that have been cultivated for centuries, such as the Nebbiolo, which is the source for red wines like Barolo, Barbaresco, Gattinara, Ghemme, and Carema. But the most popular red wine from the Piedmont region is Barbera, whose vines cover half of the regions vineyards.

Medium red. Smoky aromas of redcurrant, tar and meat, with a liqueur-like quality. Smooth, sweet and expressive if a bit chunky and lacking in definition. Flavors lifted by a floral nuance. Finishes with slightly dry tannins and good but not outstanding length.
