Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is located in the northeast corner of Italy, on the Adriatic Sea, bordering Austria and Slovenia. This region is divided into several zones. Collio Gorizano, Colli Orientali del Fruili, and Carso are in the hills bordering Slovenia, where they enjoy a climate influenced by air currents between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. Other zones, Annia, Aquileia, Grave, Isonzo, and Latisana are located in the plains of Friuli.

The area is known not only for its delightful, dry white wines, such as Pinot Grigio, Pino Bianco, and Chardonnay, but also a major share of Merlot and Cabernet.

Medium red. Smoky aromas of redcurrant, tar and meat, with a liqueur-like quality. Smooth, sweet and expressive if a bit chunky and lacking in definition. Flavors lifted by a floral nuance. Finishes with slightly dry tannins and good but not outstanding length.
