Rhone

The Rhone wine region surrounds the banks of the Rhone River, from just south of Burgundy to the Mediterranean. The region is further divided by climate into the Northern Rhone and the Southern Rhone. The climate varies from temperate in the north to Mediterranean in the South.

Most of the wine produced in the Rhone region is red, with a few whites also made. The reds are made from a wide variety of grapes, including Syrah, Grenache, Mourvédre, Cinsault, and Carignan. The white wines of the Rhone are usually blends of Marsanne and Roussanne, with some Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, and Clairette added from time to time.
