Chateau Ste. Michelle

Established in 1934, Chateau Ste. Michelle is the oldest winery in Washington State. The winery is located in Woodinville, about 15 miles northeast of Seattle, on 87 acres that were once the summer home of Frederick Stimson, a Seattle lumber baron. Chateau Ste. Michelle is known for its acclaimed Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

One of the reasons that these wines are so good, is because of the age and location of the vineyards. The vineyards are located in the Columbia Valley, separated from the Seattle area by the Cascade Mountains. The warm, dry climate of the Columbia Valley provides ideal conditions for the grapes to ripen.
