North Coast

The North Coast is an important grape growing region along the coast, north of San Francisco. The North Coast region includes Napa, Sonoma, Lake, and Mendocino counties.

Virtually all major types of wine grapes are grown in this region, producing table wines, sparkling wines, and dessert wines. The North Coast grows about 35% of California's Merlot, 45% of the Cabernet Sauvignon, and 30% of the Chardonnay.
