Central
Coast
Located between
San Francisco and Los Angeles, the Central Coast is the most rapidly
growing premium wine region in California. This large region includes
San Benito, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties.
The Central
Coast region is characterized by sandy soil, warm days, and cool ocean
breezes. Most of the grapes grown in the region are white wine grapes.
Chardonnay is by far the most common grape in the Central Coast, followed
by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Zinfandel.
